Hanging by a Thread Takes the Golden Pecan.
The 4th Annual Seguin Film & Arts Festival closed after a week packed with films, cultural events and other activities. The Festival opened on Friday, October 18 with the screening of the Sing-a-Long Sound of Music. Audiences were dancing and singing to this interactive version of the classic Julie Andrews film through five screenings over two weekends.
Independent films were screened throughout Saturday, October 25 with the awards being presented on Saturday evening. The big winner was an uplifting drama by Alabama filmmakers, Charity and Barry Battles, titled Hanging by a Thread. The film picked up Best Drama and the night's top prize, the Golden Pecan Award. Dating Danielle took away the Silver Pecan Award and Best Short Short while Veronica Always claimed the Bronze Pecan Award.
Films entered in the Student Competition were also screened on Saturday, October 25 with the top three films featuring Seguin talent. First Place went to The Passing starring young Seguin actor Keegan Michael. Coming in second place was Hola, Lola, written and directed by Marcie Mayhorn, and in third place was The What-If Girl, directed by Eric Peschel.
